Working Principle
The hydrocyclone works on the principle of centrifugal sedimentation. Slurry enters the cylindrical section tangentially under pressure and rotates at high speed inside to generate a centrifugal force field. Coarse and dense particles are thrown to the wall by large centrifugal force, spiraling down along the wall and discharging through the bottom spigot (underflow outlet), which is called underflow. Fine particles and liquid stay in the central low-pressure zone. The fluid reverses direction at the bottom of the cone and forms an upward inner vortex, discharging from the top overflow pipe, which is called overflow. An air column is usually formed at the center of the hydrocyclone.
